Fake Rockstar Shop re-opens, with limited inventory.

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

The FRS Shop is open once again, for your Holiday needs. There are a few changes and coming additions, but we’ve had a few emails asking that there be books to buy for the coming Holiday season… So we thought we’d open earlier than anticipated.

Here’s the skinny on the current shop’s status:

• We’re completely sold out of Welcome to Barkeater Lake. Sorry, but with the economics being the way they are, there’s little extra cash to make an order for more books right now. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get a gaggle of copies in after the New Year. We’ll certainly keep you posted.

• We have around 60 Escape From Barkeater Lake books remaining. Once they’re gone, they’re gone until after the New Year, so get yours now, if you’d like a unique and cholesterol-filled stocking stuffer.

• Pre-sales for Rise of the CHPMNK Militia and Return to Barkeater Lake are back on. In this economy, pre-order sales are more important than ever. The bigger the print run, the bigger break we get per book, allowing us a larger inventory, thereby keeping the FRS shop in business and continuing to pass the funny along to you. The CHPMNK book has been on pre-order for over a year and to those of you who continue to wait, we appreciate your continued patience. We are aiming to have a enough orders for a print run just after the New Year. As of now, there are only around 100pre-orders and we’d like to see around 250, to make it worth everyon’s while. Return to Barkeater Lake has around 60 pre-orders and the same name number of a 250 goal applies. Currently, we’re targeting a Mid-March launch for Return to Barkeater Lake.

A special note on pre-orders: Please do not feel obligated to pre-order. If you feel like you’d rather wait for a product to be in stock, we completely understand. If you do pre-order, please keep in mind it may be a while before you get your book. If orders flood in, obviously the books will come quicker, but if the trickle in over months, we have to wait until we reach our goal. I, Corey, personlly apologize for the long wait on the CHPMNK book and Escape. I will continue to work hard to get ahead on other projects, making it financially possible to front the printing costs, so we can do away with pre-orders. Believe me, there is nothing more I would like to do than have the books in stock, so they ship in a timely manner.

• We have more posters! The two BL posters are back in stock and now you have an option to get both for a reduced rate, for the Holidays. Check ‘em out. They’re a lot of fun.

• You can now buy The Elderberries, by Phil Frank and Joe Troise through the FRS shop! We added a link to the amazon sale page, so now you have no excuse to pick up this treasure. It’s the first year of the strip, so only Phil’s amazing art is included, not Corey’s… Which is must nicer, in this FakeRockstar opinion.

• Original Barkeater Lake strips are now available, in a convenient “grab bag” fashion. For a mere $25, We’ll choose a randon strip for you, have Corey sign it and pop it in the mail. It’s a nice surprise for the insane comedy lover in your family! Sorry, specific request for strips are not available at this time.

• Donations are now welcome three generous ways:

1. You like all and everything the Fake Rockstar army does and you’d like to make a blanket donation to the fake cause: FRS donate (Link also available on the FRS Shop home page)

2. You really only care for Barkeater Lake and would like to keep it five days a week, possibly raise to seven days in the near future: BL donate (Link also available on the Barkeater Lake home page)

3. Your soul has become the evil property of TOBY, Robot Satan. You like the sporadic updates of the strip, but would be happier with regular Mechanical Malevolence™: TOBY donate (Link also available on the TOBY, Robot Satan home page)

• We hope to add some desktops and link buttons in the free section of the store this week.

• T-shirts are highly possible in the New Year! We have some friends here in Portland, who just opened their own screen-printing business. Our goal is open an entirely seperate arm of the Fake Rockstar universe that would concentrate only on Original Fake Rockstar brand apparel, including Barkeater Lake and TOBY, Robot Satan designs. So, stay tuned!

All back orders of original strips, Escape from Barkeater Lake and any poster orders are shipping this Wednesday, December 3rd. If you’d to place a new order and are looking for it to arrive in time for Christmas, we strongly reccomend you place your order no later than Friday, December 12th. Our books ship media mail and can take up to 10 days for delivery at times. We all know how backed up the post office can be, so let’s all keep that in mind.

Thank you to you all. For your patience, your continued readership and support. Things are rocky right now, but we have a contiued vision, and we promise to keep working as hard as we can to get our heads above water.

Cheers!

-Corey and his imaginary Fake Rockstar Team of Heroes.

Bike Hero

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008

No doubt you’ve all seen this, but it bears reposting. I suck at Guitar Hero and this just proves I’m even less talented than I thought.

Feeling ill, but here are some sketches anyway…

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

I have a cold. Its not a bad cold, just annoying enough that my desire to stay in bed is overtaking my workload. I am still working/shipping/drawing today, I’m just a bit slower than usual.

But I feel bad for you guys, so here are some sketches from the ol’ sketchbook of broken promises and dreams while you wait for the continuing ridicularity™.

Cheers, soup and NyQuil,

FRS
