Howdy Rockstars,
I wanted to take a moment to thank all who posted the nice comments, emails and well wishes after I took some time off for the Holiday weekend.
I especially want to thank those of you generous enough to make recent donations to the FRS Universe. I’m not sure if you all are aware, but save The Elderberries, Everything I do for Fake Rockstar, LLC is non-paying. Yes, we have the books, shirts and socks, but with the current economy, sales have been quite small and, as you know, that stuff isn’t free to make.
Newspapers are dying and comic pages are shrinking to the point of disappearing. Even the greatest comics are losing readers and clients by the week. It is a very grim industry to be in right now and no one knows what will happen. And while aware of the supposed “Internet successes”, like many things, we know they don’t happen overnight.
I bring all this up not only to help you all understand what a lot of us in comics go through, but to ask that you stop and think before you post that snarky comment or send that berating email complaining that a cartoonist/writer’s work is a few hours late. I can tell you, at least from my house, that we are doing our absolute very best to get you great comics, while still trying to scrape a living from sales and other paying work.
Now, I don’t want pity and I’m not trying to be negative. I just want to thank those who continue to support my efforts, while reminding others what it takes to live day-to- day as a struggling artist-type. Sometimes even the best of us need reminding of other’s shoe size.
That is all from FRS central headquaters.
Yours in continued beer,
-Corey “FRS” Pandolph
